Player of the Week
Ok, he is not a player and his accomplishments took much longer then a week but I want to congratulate Cactus head coach Larry Fetkenhier for reaching 300 career wins with his victory over Mingus on Friday.
QBs
* Boulder Creek junior Gunther Johnson threw for 244 yards and 4 TDs while rushing for 132 yards and another score in a big win over Westview. WR Troy Reed had 3 TDs from Johnson.
* Sophomore Tehran Thomas from Desert Edge rushed for 207 yards and 4 TDs while throwing for 114 yards and another score against Prescott.
* In just a half of play, Kare Lyles from Saguaro threw for 288 yards and 4 scores.
* Mesa’s Turrell Pietz-Noble had 117 yards and 2 TDs rushing and threw 2 TDs in a loss to Highland.
* Brian Lewerke from Pinnacle threw 4 TDs against Millennium.
* Arizona Lutheran’s Cameron Haag had another big game, throwing for 288 yards and 3 TDs versus Valley Christian.
* Junior Daniel Bridge-Gadd from PV threw 3 TD passes and caught 1 against North Canyon.
* Basha’s Ryan Kelley threw 4 TDs in a win over Centennial.
* Shannon Burton makes the list for the second time. The Moon Valley senior had 107 yards and 3 TDs rushing and 160 yards and 2 passing scores.
* Seton Catholic’s Zach Wade had 4 total TDs against Maricopa.
* Sunrise Mountain sophomore Chase Cord had 114 yards and 4 TDs passing as well as 128 yards rushing and a 5th score.
* Tempe’s Emanuel Gant had 4 passing and 1 rushing TD against Coconino.
* Justin Conrad from Coronado had 3 TDs against Glendale.
* James Sosinski from Hamilton had 2 passing and 1 rushing TD in a win over Brophy.
* Higley’s Mason Crossland threw for 349 yards and 4 TDs against desert View. Senior WR Trent Gilbert caught 5 passes for 168 yards and 2 TDs.
* Easton Palomino from Deer Valley had 3 TDs against Goldwater.
RBs
* Deion Warren from Desert Mountain rushed for 4 TDs against Notre Dame.
* Sunnyslope’s Tim Fryson had 293 all-purpose yards and scored 4 times against Trevor Browne.
* Josh Chadwick from Highland rushed for 242 yards and a TD against Mesa.
* Williams Field’s Braden Bushman had 183 yards and 2 TDs against Mesquite.
* Parker’s C.J. Markel had 132 yards and 2 TDs against Kingman as well as 2 sacks on defense.
* Benson’s Keegan Graff made the most of his 3 carries. All 3 went for scores as he totaled 146 yards against San Manuel.
* Marcus Singleton from Willow Canyon had 147 yards and 2 TDs against Cactus Shadows.
* Poston Butte’s Brandon Hatfield had 193 yards and 2 TDs against Dobson.
* Desert Vista’s T.J. Roberts had 3 TDs against North.
* Dionte Flores from Flowing Wells had 265 yards and 2 TDs against AJ.
* CDO’s Tristan Peterson had 166 yards and 2 TDs on just 9 carries against Agua Fria.
* Bagdad runners Casey Jeans and Justin Pacheco were great for the defending D6 champs. Jeans had 192 yards and 3 TDs while Pacheco had 119 yards and 4 scores.
Receivers
* Jake Roberts from Skyline had 3 receiving TDs.
Special Teams/Defense/Misc.
* Desert Vista kicker Riggs Tamburo went 3 for 3 on FGs with a long of 50 against North.
* Omar Lloyd from Sahuaro had 2 INTs in their win over Sabino
