There was plenty of nostalgia and warm feelings at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Bobby Hurley returns to his college stomping grounds in an exhibition that benefits the Duke Children’s Hospital. It’s a great story to kick off the 2024-25 season.
A lot of those warm feelings went right out the window when the ball was tipped. I’ll spare the details, but Duke came away with an 103-47 exhibition win over the Sun Devils. ASU shot 28 percent from the field and the Blue Devils made 17 three-pointers. It was a stress test for the Sun Devils that could not played out much worse.
Bobby Hurley addressed where his team stands in his postgame comments.
Bobby Hurley did not mince words after ASU’s 103-47 exhibition loss to Duke.

So now, the Devils have nine days to look themselves in the mirror and figure out what team they want to be. They took a hook right on the jaw, but they’re still sitting at 0-0. Is this a sign of what’s to come in the Big 12? Or is this the kindling that will help light the fire under the Devils on their way to a strong season?
We may now as early as November 5 when the season officially starts against Idaho State at Desert Financial Arena.
