Eric SorensonWhile Larry Fitzgerald’s sheer numbers may be down a bit, one Pro Football Hall of Famer believes the future HOF’er is in a spot where he can continue to play and be productive at age 37, in part because of the pieces he has around them in the Cardinals’ offense.
“I think he really likes it,” Buffalo Bills’ legendary wide receiver Andre Reed said to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a recent Zoom interview. “He’s been [in Arizona] for so long, especially the last four or five years, he hasn’t had that go-to guy that can help him on the outside or in the slot. I’m sure he’s happy about that and then, Kyler Murray is playing tremendous football.”
Reed is referencing Fitz’s partners in crime in DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk who have both proven to be a handful for opposing defensive coordinators scheming against Kliff Kingbury’s Air Raid attack.

Fitzgerald is also durable, even in a league and 2020 season filled with big injuries.
“He’s healthy,” Reed explained. “I don’t even remember the last time Larry Fitzgerald didn’t put on a uniform…the consistency has always been there. He’s a guy…he could play as long as he wants as long as he doesn’t get hurt.”

Which brings us to Fitz’s ultimate quest: catching Jerry Rice for the NFL all-time receptions record and possibly others. Currently, Fitzgerald has 1411 catches, compared to Rice’s jaw-dropping mark of 1549.
It’s no secret “Larry Legend” has eyed that milestone.
“I’ve asked him that a few times – he’s lied to me probably,” Reed quipped about Fitzgerald continuing to play multiple seasons and reach those records. “If anybody can do it, he can…it could be possible.”
The Cardinals host the 7-2 Bills Sunday afternoon at 2:05 in Glendale.
