“The first time I visited I got the feeling that I was meant to be there,” Gilbert told Sports360AZ. “It is a feeling that I never got anywhere else and I wanted to be committed before my senior season.”
Gilbert was a two-sport standout at Higley having played basketball in addition to football before solely focusing on football as a junior last season. He has skills that make him a force on the outside where he can line up as a wide receiver along with the size and tenacity to put his hand on the ground and block. He had 65 catches for 1,056 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2015.
“Because of injuries, Coach Rodriguez hans’t been able to utilize the tight end,” mentioned Gilbert. “I know the schemes and how they will use me.”
The 6-4, 230 pound tight end was one most recruited players in Arizona for 2017 with offers that came from Arizona State, Colorado, Columbia, Cornell, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisville, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah and Yale along with Arizona.
It is now a family divided as Bryce’s older cousin Trent on Arizona State’s football team.

Gilbert is the 14th Wildcat commit for the 2017 class, the first from the Phoenix area and the third from the state of Arizona joining Drew Dixon from Sabino and Rhett Rodriguez from Catalina Foothills. It is already the fifth Wildcat commitment since June 1st.
