The Arizona State softball program is loaded with talent. Not just with fifth year seniors, but with some youth as well.
Sophomore shortstop Alynah Torres is among the best, ranked as the No. 6 sophomore in the nation by Softball America entering the 2021 season.

“It’s an honor to be named among some of the best in the nation,” Torres said. “I’m glad to see that my hard work pays off.”
Her sophomore campaign is off to a great start, with the team being 4-0 through one weekend of play. During a shortened freshman season, Torres hit .395 with nine home runs, tying Maddi Hackbarth for the team lead in dingers.
The jump from high school to college wasn’t too stressful for the Cactus high school product, because she believes she was well prepared by her coaches growing up. The maturity she showed last year is paying dividends early on in 2021.
This season is all about growth for Torres, who wants to be a consistent playmaker at the plate and on defense for the Sun Devils in their quest towards the College World Series.
“I’m just excited to see what this season brings,” Torres said. “We have so much talent and leadership so it should be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to keep playing.”
