Future Super Bowls in Arizona? IF stadium issues persist look south of the border for Dbacks, more…

Arizona Sports News online

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell over the weekend, on the Super Bowl being played in non-NFL cities.

“We’ve always tried to play the Super Bowl in an NFL city; that was always a bit of reward for the cities that have NFL franchises(pause), but things change, um, you know, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that happens one day.”

Soooooo, on Wednesday the Czar of the NFL announced that Atlanta had been given the 2028 Super Bowl. Me being me, I want to know where we are in the pecking order for another mega-event. In case you haven’t been watching, we had the Super Bowl in 2023, but we haven’t had a College Football Playoff title game since 2016. What gives? In early May, I asked outgoing CFP executive director Bill Hancock, at an event at an upscale Scottsdale resort, why Phoenix had been passed over so many times for a champ game. I didn’t get much of an answer, though afterward, Bill approached me and said, “That was a really good question.”. I know we can get things gone in Arizona with the Final Four for the men and women, but we can’t seem to get any traction with the CFP. The comments from Goodell about future Super Bowl sites indicate that the game will be taken worldwide(makes plenty of sense, or is it $ense). Tourism is a lifeblood of our state, and I am calling for the circling of wagons NOW. Cactus League, NASCAR Championship Race next month, WM Open, all of them. I want more Super Bowls, but Goodell has now fired the warning shot that those in our state must hear

Monterey, Mexico, for the Diamondbacks, if the stadium doesn’t get figured out? Stay tuned…

I find it funny when people think I’m hating on the Cardinals when I point out that they’ve lost 13 of their last 17 home games. Do you want me to ignore facts?

Cheering for Ohtani! It’s great for the game of baseball…

Under the headline, “What’s Wrong with Sports” -Owners of pro sports teams who simply don’t get it. They think they have all of the answers, but the proof is in the win/loss/championship record, not the balance sheet. It’s a public trust. We trust you to try to win, not sit on cap space or PR your way out of delivering a substandard product…

Who cares about being ranked in college football on October 20th. This isn’t Madden or Call of Duty. Asking this question of Kenny Dillingham is like screaming into a sewer hole…

I don’t like Arizona State’s chances Saturday morning at Cincinnati. 9am body clock kickoffs don’t end well. IF they win, it’s a better victory than over Utah at home late on a Saturday night…

IF they win Saturday,  when does ESPN College Gameday call about potentially coming up for the ASU vs BYU game? By the way, how much Blue and White will be in the stands for this game after the Sun Devil season ticket holders sell their seats? Just look at how many Utah Utes fans were in the lower bowl last Saturday. I don’t blame fans for wanting to make a profit. No reason to rip them….

We aren’t supposed to root, but given that Jeff Sims has stood behind Sam Leavitt and handled his business as a backup the right way, I’d like to see him do well on Saturday. When I saw him at Camp T, he had some accuracy issues.

If we are starting the conversation about where Cam Skattebo ranks in the order of ASU running backs. Would you put him above D.J Foster? Marion Grice? J.R. Redmond? Kalen Ballage? I wasn’t around, but the old timers I’ve spoken with the last couple of days brought up Gerald Riggs, Woody Green, and Art Malone….

No one works harder on Arizona State stories than Jordan Hamm. You will see him in Duke with Arizona State basketball later this month. Dude was bugging me on my recent vacation about getting some details done for Bobby Hurley’s return to Durham…

Jody Jackson is smooth at whatever assignment she takes on, but her play-by-play of girls’ flag football on Arizona Family Sports has demonstrated that she can do college and pro play-by-play if she so desires. A better person than a broadcaster…

If you asked today, I’d say Perry basketball star Koa Peat will commit to the University of Arizona. That could change in the next half hour…

Devils vs Christians hoops in just 29 days Downtown…
