One of the winningest quarterbacks in Arizona high school football histry is coming home.
Former Chandler and BYU quarterback Jacob Conover announced on Wednesday he is transferring to Arizona State.
He will reunite with his high school head coach Shaun Aguano.
Conover was an Elite 11 quarterback in 2018 and passed for over 10,000 yards and 102 touchdowns with just 16 interceptions while winning three state championships in as many years at Chandler.
The pro-style quarterback chose BYU over the likes of Arizona State and Alabama. The Class of 2019 quarterback served a LDS mission in Paraguay that was cut short due to the pandemic and was on-campus for the 2020 season. He has seen limited action in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Conover is a part of a flurry of Arizona transfer bounce-back players. In addition to Conover, Cal running back DeCarlos Brooks (Chandler), Wisconsin’s Tristan Monday (Saguaro), Kansas State’s Krew Jackson (Queen Creek), Cal’s Slater Zellers (Notre Dame Prep) and New Mexico State’s Josh Carlson (Gilbert) have announced their transfers back to Arizona.
