Arizona State added a new quarterback on Sunday in former Alabama signal-caller Paul Tyson.
The 6-foot-5, 228-pound quarterback was a former four-star recruit in the class of 2019. He was the No. 12 pocket passer in his recruiting class and held offers from the likes of Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, USC and Wisconsin in addition to the Crimson Tide.
Last year, he served as the backup to Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and completed 10 of 16 passes for 150 yards. He is also the great-grandson of Alabama legend Paul “Bear” Bryant.
As a two-year starter at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Alabama, Tyson threw for 69 touchdowns, 6,585 yards and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for seven touchdowns as well.
Tyson will have three years of eligibility remaining. He joins a quarterback room that features incumbent starter Jayden Daniels, back-up Trenton Bourguet, Finn Collins and class of 2022 signee Bennett Meredith.
