Arizona Christian University’s football program has made huge strides in it’s first year. Their success in 2014 has made it possible for them to establish recruiting pipelines within the state and bring in some of Arizona’s most dynamic players. One of those players? Pinnacle wide receiver Cules Rose.
Rose thrived in the wide-open Pinnacle offense as one of Brian Lewerke’s favorite targets, leading the team in receptions (49) and receiving yards (1,056). Rose thrived his senior year and is hoping to thrive in a similarly styled Arizona Christian offense.
“They’re both fast-paced offenses. We love to throw the ball. And since I’m a receiver, you know I love that and I can’t wait be out there, be that deep threat for ACU,” Rose said.
Arizona Christian head football coach Donnie Yantis said this year’s skill position class has created a new stockpile of talent. Players like Rose can help the skill positions unit become one of the Firestorm’s greatest strengths in 2015.
“Our coaches did a great job finding those guys and I think we have some high-caliber kids from this state… that fit our offensive and defensive schemes,” Yantis said. “No doubt we upgraded that position and I think some of these kids will come in and surprise a lot of people in Arizona.”
Rose is ready to surprise some people as well, and wants to waste no time getting to work.
“In my first year, I’m looking forward to developing a close relationship with the players, the coaches, the students, the teachers, and I can’t wait to further my career.”
If Rose’s ACU career will be anything like his time at Pinnacle, he’s going to get the ball early and often, and help the Firestorm torch defenders.
