Fabiano’s Fantasy Focus: Week Nine, Volume II

Arizona Sports News online

Every summer leading into and throughout the NFL season, Sports Illustrated and SI.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.

Here are some highlights from our most recent conversation (November 3rd) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

What do you do with Ezekiel Elliott at this point? “Zeke has been awful since Dak [Prescott] got hurt. He’s been awful. Pittsburgh’s defense has been really good against the run although Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins ran all over them last week. It’s amazing how player’s values can change when one guy goes out. The second Dak Prescott went out, everyone’s value went down the toilet. You’re probably going to be forced to play Zeke. He was a top three pick.”

What do you see from Chase Edmonds this week going up against the Dolphins? “I love the matchup. The matchup is really good against Miami. This is one of those plays that scares me because everyone is going to love him this week and sometimes when that happens, it goes sideways. But Miami’s defense is not good against running backs and Edmonds was better than Kenyan Drake when he got the opportunity earlier this season. Edmonds is a must-start this week.”

With Christian McCaffrey likely coming back, what do you do if you own Mike Davis? “McCaffrey is going to get that full workload again. Mike Davis was good. The last couple of games, not so much. McCaffrey is just on another level and I would suspect that Mike Davis would probably end up getting dropped in a lot of leagues. I don’t think there’s enough of a role for him to sustain stand alone flex value.”

What’s going on with the Colts’ backfield? “Jonathan Taylor – what the heck, man? I mean, I thought he was going to be a Top 10 back last week. Nope, it was Jordan Wilkins and Taylor’s dealing with a little bit of an ankle issue right now.”

Any final fantasy thoughts going into Week Nine? “Don’t get too frustrated. It’s been rough, man! Last week we didn’t even know what Seahawks’ running back was even going to be active. I have two rosters where I have like three running backs from Seattle. It’s more important than ever to pick up back up running backs if you have a dead spot on your roster. You never know when one of those guys could pan out and don’t get frustrated. If your team stinks right now, keep playing. Don’t give up! I hate that. I hate when people are out of the playoff race or think they’re out of the playoff race and just quit. That hurts the rest of the league.”
