Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (September 27th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
To this point, what fantasy themes are emerging from your view through the fantasy season? “I think the trend that is the most obvious is that you didn’t need to draft a quarterback in the first five-to-seven rounds because look at the guys who are leading the position in points. Matt Ryan wasn’t drafted in most leagues. Matthew Stafford was not drafted or drafted late. Derek Carr drafted late. All of a sudden Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott, the two rookies, are in the Top 12 at the position.”
Have there been more injuries through the first part of the season or is it just me? “It’s been all about the injuries and it’s not just the running backs. Wide receivers are going down. Quarterbacks are going down. Tight ends are going down. So it’s been a tough start to the 2016 fantasy campaign.”
Are there any players who are losing faith in from a fantasy perspective? “Randall Cobb. Everyone thought, ‘Well, Jordy Nelson is going to come back and [Cobb’s] going to be the same player he was in 2014.’ It hasn’t happened, he’s been just as bad if not worse. A lot of times people fall in love with names and they love the big names. Cobb is a big name doing next to nothing for your fantasy team. So if you decided to go out and get rid of him, I can absolutely see that.”
Is Jeremy Langford worth having on my roster? “Langford is going to be out potentially 4-6 weeks if you decide to drop him. I fully expect Jordan Howard to take over that job and run with it.”
