Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 22nd) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Is A.J. Green still worth rostering? “Well, it seems like he’s avoided a season-ending injury so you’re not going to drop him just yet but you’ve got to play the waiver wire and there’s not going to be a whole lot of people out there and no one really who’s going to be able to replace a talent like A.J. Green. Maybe you stay in-house in Cincinnati and maybe you go with a Tyler Boyd. Jamison Crowder is out there in some leagues. DeVante Parker has a good matchup this week against San Francisco so there are options out there but bottom line you can’t replace A.J. Green.”
What do you do with C.J. Procise up in Seattle? “You drop him…clearly the big winner here in Thomas Rawls because they cut Christine Michael and now he has Alex Collins behind him and that’s about it so you’re looking at a situation where Thomas Rawls is going to end up being an RB1 for you down the stretch. If you picked him up off the waiver wire you’re feeling really good right now because he’s going to be the featured back for Seattle for the rest of the season.”
Is Sammy Watkins going to be an option in Buffalo? “I would pick him up and stash him for sure because it seems like he’s close to coming back. We’ll see if that foot continues to haunt him because it did earlier in the year because he’s had a lot of time off here. He’s certainly worth stashing at this point.”
The Bears are so bad–are there any players worth starting moving forward? “Unless you’re a big fan of Matt Barkley (laughing)…I wouldn’t be shocked if [Jay] Cutler has played his last down in Chicago. I don’t know that they want to go forward with him. I could see him going to the Jets next year but right now there are no Bears outside of Jordan Howard that you can start in fantasy. The defense is banged up, the offensive line is banged up. They’ve lost Alshon Jeffery to suspension. It’s gotten really bad there to the point where the Titans’ defense is going to be a really good play in fantasy for those who like to stream defenses.”
Who are some under-the-radar players who could really produce in the fantasy playoffs? “Well, moving forward the Buccaneers past this week have a really good schedule. They’re playing Seattle this week so that’s a tough one. The Chargers in the playoffs–their schedule is ridiculous to the point where Philip Rivers and Tyrelle Williams could really help you win a championship. I believe one of their games is against Cleveland. They have some really good match-ups. They play Oakland, as well in San Diego. That is a team, with the trade deadline looming in fantasy leagues, if you can go out and get a Tyrelle Williams…Philip Rivers is certainly going to help. Melvin Gordon has been fantastic this year, as well so there are some players out there on teams that have great schedules.”
