Fabiano’s Fantasy Focus: Week 12, Vol. I – Rating Quarterback Play Over The Past Month

Every week during the NFL season, Sports Illustrated Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.

In our most recent conversation with Michael (Nov. 23), we discussed the quarterback position and whether or not it may be time to look for backup options for certain big-name QBs who haven’t been living up to their name value. Here is what the Hall-of-Famer had to say:

Patrick Mahomes Has Been Mostly Terrible In Fantasy Lately. Is It Time To Bench Him?

“Sometimes you have to look beyond the name. He’s had four out of five horrible games from a fantasy perspective. The only game he had that was any good was against the Raiders. Moving forward, if you’ve got another quarterback with a favorable matchup and Mahomes doesn’t have a good matchup, bench him. This is not a tiny sample size, this is over a month’s worth of games. He’s been putting up modest stat lines and staying in fantasy lineups because of past success.”

On The Flipside, Jimmy Garoppolo Has Been The Second-Best QB In Fantasy Over The Last Month. What Does That Say About The State Of The Position Overall?

“Jimmy Garoppolo has been the second-best quarterback in fantasy football over the past month and he’s honestly only had one really good game in those four weeks. We like to think that it’s a deep position, but there has been a lot of volatility at quarterback this year. Josh Allen has had bad weeks, Mahomes has had more bad weeks than good weeks, Ryan Tannehill has been a disaster. It’s not a position where you can just set it and forget it.”

Shifting Gears, Who Are Some Guys You Think Could Be In For Boom Performances In The Thanksgiving Games?

“I know a lot of people are worried about Dak Prescott, but to me this is almost a prove it game for Dak. We’ve seen elite quarterbacks play really well without their top options in the passing game and I think he can still put up top-12 numbers without Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb.
