VIDEO – We caught up with WNBA all-time scoring leader, six-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and basketball legend, Diana Taurasi, on a plethora of topics…Starting with how she’s developed her self-confidence, the progress she’s seen around the league regarding LGBTQ+ representation, what it means to her to be someone others with eczema can look up to, her offseason plans, and what her future holds.
Taurasi says she will “make a decision soon” on if she plays or not next year…“really soon…my offseason would end now & my real season would start in a couple weeks.”
“That’s kind of how I’ve treated the last 5 or 6 seasons where I’ve stopped playing in Russia. It’s usually a 16 week process to get ready for the season…which is tough, you know? Just taking my time. Really thinking about it. It’s all I know…getting ready – I love that. The mentality of working toward something. Especially with a group that’s great. I love coming to work every single day.”
“Sometimes you think the season must be hard – no – the preseason’s the hardest part when you’re getting ready for the season.”
“If it’s the end, it’s the end. If we’re gonna go forward, we’re gonna go forward.”
“Four [championships] would be nice.”
As we wait for Taurasi’s final decision on returning for a 21st season with the Mercury, the X-Factor holds its collective breathe.
