As the MLB trade deadline approaches on August 2nd, the Diamondbacks have traded outfielder David Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league catcher Christian Cerda.
Peralta has been a fan favorite since his major league debut in 2014.
“Thank you is the only thing I can say,” Peralta said on Bally Sports Arizona. “I’m gonna keep all the D-backs fans in my heart and I love you with all my heart…Go D-backs.”
The Freight Train earned a Silver Slugger Award in 2018 followed by a Gold Glove Award in 2019.

While Tampa Bay adds a reliable outfielder to the roster amidst injuries, Arizona continues to plan for the future.
Cerda’s slash line in the Florida Complex league sits at .327/.462/.538, giving D-backs fans a peak into his potential.
He’s still only 19 years old, so plenty of time to see what he’s capable of.
