Desert Mountain duo building team chemistry during Spring ball

It is known that the Desert Mountain Wolves have the best quarterback to wide receiver tandem in Arizona. But two players can only take you so far at the varsity level, especially Division I football.

Improving individual games is important but improving the team is at the forefront for both quarterback Kyle Allen and wide receiver Mark Andrews.

“We are really just trying to come together as a family on this team,” Allen explained. “The last couple years we’ve been in and out as a family, we haven’t really been a tight team but we are going to work on being a really tight team. Being family oriented and win it together. We’re not going to win it as individuals.”

As Allen and Andrews have led by example to bring the best out of themselves and their team, their individual attention from a national standpoint has continued to grow. Allen has had an off-season that has exceeded his wildest dreams after being named the top quarterback in the nation by Scout.com. He has taken visits to some of the best college programs in the nation (most recently to UCLA, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State) and bringing in offer after offer.

The most recent offers from are Urban Meyer and Ohio State as well as a team that played in the national championship game last year, Notre Dame.

“It’s an amazing offer,” Allen said of Notre Dame. “It’s one of the best schools in the country. A world-wide known school. It’s awesome to hear from them…They recently had a quarterback transfer so I talked to them on the phone for like 20 minutes and then they offered.”

Notre Dame and Ohio State are added to a list offers that include Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Boise State, Oregon State, Mississippi and more.

Allen will continue to make a name for himself at the Nike Elite 11 camp in Chicago working out side-by-side with the best quarterbacks in the country.

“At these camps, they are looking for the best competitor, the best guy in and out and better at the small things than anyone else” Allen mentioned. “I just got to be on my A game, got to be focused, got to be energized out there. But I am really excited for it.”

As for Mark Andrews, he has recently taken visits to Michigan and Ohio State. And his most recent offer comes from former Arizona offensive coordinator and now Cal head coach Sonny Dykes.

“I got called by their coach and he spoke to me about their offense and how explosive they are,” Andrews said. “They think I am a very good fit for their offense.”

Andrews’ Cal offer is one of 23 which includes Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Florida State, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA and more. The schools are going crazy over 6-6 240 pound receiver who most recently ran a 4.7 second 40-yard dash time. But if you ask Andrews, there is always room to grow.

“I am always working on my mental game and my footwork,” Andrews explained. “Just trying to perfect the little things in my game to get a step ahead.”

So though a full article can be filled on these two from an individual stand point, Allen and Andrews have their focus on leading by example for their Wolves football team and building a chemistry in the locker room and on the field that can push them places their school has never reached.
