Desert Edge Duel-Threat Star Commits To UC-Davis

The far west Valley isn’t apparently west enough for Desert Edge duel-threat quarterback Tehran Thomas who committed to UC-Davis Tuesday afternoon.

“Just being up there being able to meet with the coaches and see the school,” Thomas told Sports360AZ.com. “I was comfortable with the coaching staff and the learning environment. I just fell in love on the spot.”

The senior led the Scorpions to a Division III State Championship in November accounting for over 300 total yards as Edge held off Paradise Valley for their first state title. His junior stats totaled 26 touchdowns (17 passing) and close to 2,800 total yards. The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound Thomas has been a varsity player under head coach Rich Wellbrock since his freshman year.

“It’s a big relief,”  he said of making the decision before his final prep season. “Now I can just go out and ball out with my family [team]. Do my job to be a great leader and lead them to another championship.”

He chose the Big Sky Conference Aggies, who have recruited Arizona well, over Army and Air Force. Thomas plans to study horticulture and business with a major in the medicine.
