Derek Hagan knows what type of talent third-year wide receiver N’Keal Harry is.
That man, whose name is plastered atop most of the receiving statistical categories, has watched Harry up close since he was a freshman. Now, Hagan, the Sun Devil record-holder for career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, joined Herm Edwards’ staff in January as an offensive analyst and is working with the Sun Devils’ top target to take his game to new levels.
“The main thing I’m trying to help him with is his technique and fundamentals,” Hagan said. “That’s the main thing. Every day you’ve got to go out there and put in the time and the effort. N’Keal, he shows up and practices like a pro.”

Harry called working with Hagan “a blessing,” and as Harry starts his third season on Saturday, it’s an assumption his name will start to move closer to the top of some of those records.
“I want to be better,” Harry said. “I want to break all those records, I want to do all of that. He wants that for me too. He wants me to go out there and be the best player I can be. He’s been very helpful so far.”

And few are cheering louder for Harry to break those records than Hagan.
“I want him to go get it,” Hagan said of Harry. “I’ve had these records long enough. I think 12, 13 years is long enough. I’m hoping he puts his foot down and gets after it, but not just records in general, our overall team goal is going out there and winning. The records at the end of the day are records, but the ultimate goal is to win a Pac-12 championship.”
Harry will get his first shot of 2018 to do that on Saturday when the Sun Devils host UTSA.
