Suns Select Miami Defensive Specialist Davon Reed With Pick 32

The Suns were one of the the league’s worst teams when it came to defensive efficiency in 2016.

They certainly addressed it in Thursday’s NBA draft.

With the fourth overall pick, the Suns selected Kansas forward Josh Jackson, one of the draft’s best defenders. They followed suit in the second round selecting Miami senior shooting guard Davon Reed.

Reed was named to the 2016-17 ACC All-Defensive team in his final season with the Hurricanes. Standing at 6-foot-6 and 208 pounds and sporting a 7-foot wingspan, Reed averaged 35.3 minutes, 14.9 points and nearly five rebounds per game this year.

Davon Reed, the Suns pick at 32, is a 6'5 G/F with a 7' wingspan. During his workout, Reed was handling point guard duties in 3-on-3.

Since trading P.J. Tucker, were looking for another “three-and-D” player, and that fits Reed’s style of play.
