One of the top girl’s basketball programs in the state will be looking for a new head coach after Courtland Rojeck took to social media Monday afternoon to announce he was resigning for family reasons.

The Tigers are coming off back-to-back 5A State Championships behind a core group of experienced players, led by 2020 forward Alexandra Zelaya, who will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of North Carolina.
“It was extremely difficult,” Rojeck said to Sports360AZ.com of his decision. “It was such an honor to be the head coach of the Millennium Lady Tigers. However, at the end of the day it was important to be back home close to the family and give my four kids the chance to build memories and relationships with their cousins, aunts/uncles [and] grandparents.”
Rojeck, who coached the Lady Tigers for 11 years, said the decision was based solely on being closer to his family and aging parents who live in Cleveland, Ohio. He said he made the decision to resign back in January but didn’t announce it until now so his team would remain focused during the season.
“I loved Millennium,” he continued. “What I’ll miss most? The players! It was always such an honor to build relationships and work with these girls day in and day out. I was always their “coach” but more than anything, I was a “fan” and supporter of all of them.”

Millennium finished 26-4 last season, including a perfect 10-0 mark in region play. They outscored their four playoff opponents 265-115 . The Lady Tigers only in-state loss was to 6A state champion Valley Vista 43-42.
