Coaching and Recruiting Thoughts on All Levels…

Arizona Sports News online

Can’t see the Cardinals hiring a coach in the next ten days. Pretty simple really. If your going to interview a bunch of assistant coaches and coordinators tied up in the playoffs, then the plan isn’t to go out and get the guy in early January. I’m fine with that. Remember, Bruce Arians got passed over a few times(new going Bears) before the Cardinals jumped in…

of the names I’ve seen, Mike Munchack would get my vote. Doesn’t mean that there aren’t bigger and better names that could emerge. When was the last time the Cardinals had a long run of good offensive line play? Having a quarterback coach and offensive coordinator work with the QB is fine. Head coach doesn’t need to bother with that. Munchak has an offensive line that features 3 Pro Bowl players. He will interview with the Cardinals in Pittsburgh over the weekend…

Talking NFL Draft, At 15, I’d trade up to 4 if Josh Rosen is still on the board(doubtful). Of the quarterbacks in this years NFL Draft, give me Rosen first, then Baker Mayfield…

Lane Kiffin coaching Arizona would be my choice…

Arizona State needs a quarterback in this recruiting class. With a month to go before Letter of Intent Day, Jamarye Joiner, from Tucson Cienega is the top target. Joiner will visit Oregon State next weekend and Nebraska on the 19th. For now he’s committed to Arizona, but didn’t sign his Letter of Intent in the early signing period. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Joiner change his commitment to the Sun Devils on signing day next month.

Perry QB Brock Purdy is getting hit on by quite a few Power 5 programs, UCF is the latest to show a strong interest. Josh Heupel the head coach of the Knights, would like Purdy to visit. That’s probably going to happen. Purdy will trip up to Boise St. January 12th. Bigger fish are starting to circle Purdy…

Hamilton, Mountain Pointe, Brophy, Cactus are all high school head football coaching jobs that are open. Each has its own challenges. For those that believe Hamilton isn’t that good of a job anymore, you need to stop nipping on the cooking sherry. Construction to improve the football facilities is going on right now. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Jason Mohns at Saguaro or former Brophy coach Scooter Molander jump on the Hamilton opening. It’s a national brand that is just waiting for new leadership at the highest level of Arizona high school football…
