Chase Lucas grew up in front of our eyes in Arizona. Now, he’s headed to the Motor City after being selected by the Detriot Lions with pick No. 237 in the NFL
He made a promise to then-Chandler head coach Shaun Aguano would win their first state title in the modern era when Lucas was in the backfield. He delivered on that his junior season.
He rushed for 2,219 yards and 25 scores and caught 84 passes for 1,022 and eight additional scores in three seasons with the Wolves. He was an All-American and his first real reps at defensive back, the position he would play in college, happened against the nation’s best.
He committed to Arizona State along with N’Keal Harry to help usher in a new era of ASU Football. He redshirted his freshman year, and then never really left the field after that, setting the ASU record for games played.
In five seasons, he made 223 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacksand six interceptions in Tempe.
Lucas joins Rachaad White, Jack Jones, and D.J. Davidson as Sun Devils to get drafted this year.
