D.J. Foster was all but done with football. “I was back home sitting on my butt in a bad place, just waiting for the opportunity,” he said on Saturday night after rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown for the Canadian Football League Toronto Argonauts in their 30-23 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “I felt like a little kid again, playing Pop Warner”.

I didn’t see any of the game other than the social media highlights, but Foster had his shiftiness and speed that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing through the years of high school. college, and pro ball here in the Valley. “I was at a point where I was done with football trying to move on to the next chapter; I was fortunate to have this opportunity and to have fun playing football again”. Foster had four runs of 10-yards or more on the night.
If you want to follow D.J.’s journey, the Argo’s play Thursday at home against Edmonton. I wonder if we’ll see some Foster CFL jerseys show up at Saguaro, Arizona State, or Cardinal games this Fall. You can make the argument that he’s the most popular running back to ever come out of the Valley…
