Carson Palmer crutched into the Cardinals media room midday Monday. He struggled to get up the step to the podium and sat down gingerly before pouring out his emotions to the assembled media on his torn ACL. “I won’t lie-I cried like a baby last night”.
In the business of football it’s not clear if we will ever see Palmer in a game for the Cardinals again. “I’m going to play football again. I hope it is here”. His contract is guaranteed for the 2015 season, but what happens beyond that is anybody’s guess. When Arizona State was scrambling to sustain drives in the second half on Saturday, the clock management by the Sun Devil offense was beyond painful to watch. In the third quarter, ASU ran 12 offensive plays for a grand total of 32 yards and took just over five minuets off the clock.(One drive they had for just :53 seconds and ran three plays) Snapping the football with :20-:25 seconds left on the play clock over and over made no sense. Not going to accept the rationale that “that’s who we are”. Nope. Not buying it…
I was very pleased to hear Sun Devil legend Danny White say “I am rooting for Arizona to win their games until we play them”: White understands that in this new era of the College Football Playoff that the strength of the conference is what matters. SEC fans get it, it will be nice when fans of the Pac-12 become savy too…
