Cardinals Start Voluntary OTAs, Talk Hard Knocks

The Arizona Cardinals’ Optional Training Activities are underway. Quarterback Kyler Murray was not in attendance on day one.

Murray wasn’t the only veteran who opted to skip voluntary OTAs. This is a somewhat normal thing across the league.

“We all understand it’s all voluntary at this point,” Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said after Monday’s OTA. “We will push the guys that are here and will especially get the younger guys more reps because they may not get as many in training camp.”

Safety Budda Baker, wide receiver Antoine Wesley, and tight end Zach Ertz all said they love being at OTAs. However, they all pointed out that they support every guy who skips in order to take care of the business side of things with their contracts.

Earlier today, it was announced that the Cardinals will appear on Hard Knocks during the season. Budda Baker believes JJ Watt will be the star of the show.

Kingsbury noted that the Colts won six of their final seven games last year while on the midseason edition of Hard Knocks. He hopes that same mojo runs off on his team, which has struggled sown the stretch during his tenure.
