Bullock’s BBQ Still A Favorite of Bobby Hurley’s

Bullock’s BBQ has served the Durham community for four generations. They believe each customer is family and will be treated as such. That family can include North Carolina residents to David Letterman to Reba McEntyre.

Bullock’s also reaches across the political aisle. Among the countless photos on the wall, there is a photo of Ronald Reagan next to Joe Biden. The Reagans were such fans of Bullock’s that secret service members were instructed to return to the White House with a few menu items if they were in the area.

This food also transcends the Duke-UNC rivalry. Former North Carolina coach Roy Williams is a customer. Duke Blue Devil alums are frequent repeat customers when they’re back in town including Bobby Hurley.

Prior to leaving for Duke with his ASU team, I asked Hurley if there was a restaurant he used to frequent in his playing days that’s still open. He quickly said Bullock’s. A few days later after a media availability with Coach, I decided to head over to the restaurant. Hurley and his entire family had three tables pushed together and were enjoying a dinner there.

Bullock’s president Ty Bullock sat down with Sports360AZ to talk about the restaurant’s legacy, seeing Bobby after all these years and what this community means to his family.
