In the first ever football game between the two teams, Brophy Prep defeated Queen Creek 49-7 on Friday, Sept. 11 at Central High School.
The Broncos started with a heavy dose of senior wide receiver Ryder Noche out of the backfield, giving him four straight carries of the first drive. After one play off, Noche broke free for a long touchdown run making it 7-0 on the first drive of the game.
“We wanted to make a statement and run the football,” said Brophy head coach Jason Jewell.
After forcing a three and out and getting the ball back, junior quarterback Noah Stewart threw a touchdown pass right up the seam to a wide open junior tight end Brady Powell. The connection gave the Broncos a 14-0 lead with 9:12 left in the first quarter.

Queen Creek started to get their offense going at the end of the first quarter with junior Quarterback Sawyer Hales, but missed a field goal that would’ve put them on the scoreboard.
On the next defensive possession, Queen Creek blocked a Brophy field goal attempt with 2:00 left in the first quarter.
The Broncos continued to be physical at the line of scrimmage. Going back to the ground game to begin the second quarter, the Broncos marched into the red zone.
Junior running back Eli Price punched it in from about five yards out to give the Broncos a 21-0 lead with 9:53 left in the second quarter.

Shortly after, the Broncos offense came driving down the field with contributions on the ground with Ryder Noche and through the air to senior wide receiver Dononvan McNabb.
Noah Stewart ran in for an 8 yard touchdown to cap the drive making the score 28–0 with 4:05 left to go in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs special teams unit put the team on the board to start the second half. The Bulldogs blocked a Brophy punt and recovered the ball in the endzone for a touchdown making it 28-7 with 7:46 to go in the third quarter.
Junior Tyler Mendez jumped on the ball in the endzone for the Bulldogs touchdown.
On the next drive Brophy let loose through the air. Noah Stewart connected with junior wide receiver Julian Ferrari who took a screen pass 30 yards for a Broncos touchdown.
The Stewart to Ferrari connection made the score 35-7 in Brophy’s favor with 4:56 left in the third quarter.
On their next offensive possession, the Broncos added another touchdown with a 20 yard touchdown pass to a wide open Donovan McNabb in the endzone.
Despite it now being 42-7 in the beginning of the fourth quarter, Brophy head coach Jason Jewell told his players to keep the “same standard.” According to the Brophy coaches and players, the team holds themselves to a certain standard of toughness.
“B.S.T. (Brophy Standard Tough) means no matter what the time is, we’ve gotta give our best,” said quarterback Noah Stewart.
With under a minute left in the fourth quarter the Broncos topped it off with a 76 yard touchdown from senior running back Travis Tobias making it 49-7.
Postgame, Brophy Head coach Jason Jewell emphasized the toughness of their next two games. “We have two tough ones in a row here with Mountain View and Chandler… the last two times we played both of those teams we took L’s,” said Jewell.
