For the ninth time in her illustrious career, Mercury superstar center Brittney Griner has been named a WNBA All-Star.
Griner has averaged 18.1 points per game, a career-high 61.8% from the field, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 1.7 assists as well as a career-high 0.9 steals per contest.
She did more than enough to earn the starting nod, leading the ‘W’ in blocks per game, is second in field goal percentage and is top ten in points per game.
“Well I hope I have better stats than I did last year [All-Star Game]…think I had 0’s across the board.” 😅#WNBAAllStar Brittney Griner on what this 9th selection means to her given what she went through this past year:

This all made more impressive by the fact that she missed the 2022 season due to being wrongfully detained in Russia (she was still named an honorary 2022 All-Star).
Her nine All-Star appearances are also the most among all of this year’s starters.
Starters are voted on by fans, players, and media members.
The league’s coaches select the All-Star reserves, which will be announced on July 1.
The All-Star game takes place in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 15, at 5:30 pm.
