As teens finalize their formal wear, teams are formally bringing in potential prospects for second, third, even fourth looks just over two weeks away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting the festivities with the first overall pick.
The Arizona Cardinals are busy hosting several players, including former Chandler High and UCLA star quarterback Brett Hundley who was at the Tempe facilities on Tuesday.
The Cards spent a fourth-round pick on Logan Thomas last year and could be kicking the tires on the Valley star.
Some say buyer beware to Steve Keim and Bruce Arians.
“I think you’re hearing Brett Hundley’s stock is dropping and dropping and dropping,” ESPN college football analyst Brock Huard told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat. “The real question with him is, does he just get it? When the ball is snapped does he process quickly enough? Does he see the field?”
Huard is not alone in his concerns as many pointed out similar flaws with the 6’3, 223-pounder after the NFL Combine back in February. He points to the fact Hundley would use his quick feet to elude problems in college but won’t stand a chance for NFL success if those habits continue.
If Hundley were to slide down draft boards as some have predicted and is available around the time Arizona selected Thomas last spring, would he fit well in Arians’ downfield passing attack?
“No,” Huard said without hesitation. “Logan Thomas…he could really throw it…I don’t think Brett can spin it in that kind of way. I think he would be better, frankly, in a run-first offense. I think he would be a much better fit in a Seattle [Seahawks] offense than an Arizona offense.”
