Brennan needs a quick start…

Tucson – -Hot take/not a hot take- Brent Brennan needs to win more than lose in 2025. 

That’s my takeaway after hearing him speak twice in the last two weeks about his 2025 Arizona Wildcat football team. Even though he’s been on the job for less than two years, it feels like he needs to demonstrate that he’s steering this program in the right direction sooner rather than later. “How do you get the right people in the right seats on the bus? How do you get the right players to fit the schemes that you’re going to run and execute in?” 

While former head coach Jedd Fisch didn’t leave the cupboard bare when he bolted for the University of Washington, he didn’t leave it stocked either. Factor in the transfer portal, NIL, and other outside factors(agents), and a football program can get decimated in a hurry. Throw in the usual injuries and the progression, regression on the field of young men between the ages of 18-24, and suddenly the conversation shifts towards the basketball scrimmage in early October.

Hosting Hawaii, Weber State, and Kansas State right out of the chute should produce a minimum of 2-1. Anything less than that, and I have to believe that the voices will grow. So in rides quarterback Noah Fifita to save the day? Tuesday, Brennan brought up the lack of speed from the receiver corps last season, believing that has been addressed. Tetairoa McMillian is off to the Carolina Panthers—a tall order to replace the 8th overall pick in the 2025 draft.
