Baseball coming fast, Diamondbacks release report dates

Just like it always does, the Major League Baseball offseason has flown by.

On Wednesday, the same day the Baseball writers association announced the 2014 Hall of Fame class, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they will begin their fourth spring training at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on February 6th. Pitchers and catchers will report that day and the rest of the team will report on the 11th and the first full roster workout will be on the 12th.

The Diamondbacks announced their roster entering spring training is as follows:

Pitchers:

Right-handed pitchers: Chase Anderson, Charles Brewer, Trevor Cahill, Josh Collmenter, Randall Delgado, Will Harris, David Hernandez, Marcos Mateo, Brandon McCarthy, J.J. Putz, Addison Reed, Alex Sanabia, Bo Schultz and Zeke Spruill;

Left-handed pitchers: Patrick Corbin, Eury De La Rosa, Wade Miley, Joe Paterson, Matt Reynolds and Joe Thatcher;

Catchers: Tuffy Gosewisch and Miguel Montero;

Infielders: Eric Chavez, Paul Goldschmidt, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hill, Chris Owings, Cliff Pennington and Martin Prado;

Outfielders: Tony Campana, Ender Inciarte, Alfredo Marte, Gerardo Parra, A.J. Pollock, Cody Ross, Mark Trumbo and Matt Tuiasosopo.

The club has 27 non-roster invitees comprised of 13 pitchers, 4 catchers, 7 infielders and 3 outfielders:

Right-handed pitchers: Jake Barrett, Mike Bolsinger, Archie Bradley, R.J. Hively, Daniel Hudson, Willy Paredes, Adam Russell, A.J. Schugel, Seth Simmons, Matt Stites and Jess Todd.

Left-handed pitchers: Andrew Chafin; Ryan Rowland-Smith;

Catchers: Henry Blanco, Blake Lalli, Bobby Wilson and Steven Rodriguez;

Infielders: Nick Ahmed, Nick Evans, Michael Freeman, Mike Jacobs, Sean Jamieson, Jake Lamb and Andy Marte;

Outfielders: Danny Dorn, Justin Greene and Evan Marzilli.

There will be many story lines for this team as the 2014 season kicks off. How will the starting rotation round out and will possible aces in Masahiro Tanaka and prospect Archie Bradley be on it? How will Mark Trumbo moving to left field on an everyday basis work for his defensive production? Who will be the closer with Addison Reed now in the mix?

The Diamondbacks have been very active in the off-season to this point and seeing whether or not that aggressiveness can get them over the .500 mark that they haven’t been able to eclipse the last to season will begin with their development in spring training.
