Arizona State football is certainly celebrating their Territorial Cup win on Saturday afternoon.
But they still needed a little help to make the Big 12 Championship. While highly unlikely, there was a chaos theory where the Devils would be 10-2 on the year and not make the Big 12 Championship game.
TCU’s win over Cincinnati officially punched the Devils ticket for Arlington next weekend.
And then it came down to the Big 12’s late game between BYU and Houston to determine the Sun Devils’ opponent.
BYU came away with the win, meaning Iowa State will battle the Sun Devils in this year’s Big 12 Championship.
The Cyclones are coming of a 29-21 win over Kansas State and also sit at 10-2.
Entering Saturday, the Cyclones own the top scoring defense in the Big 12, allowing just 19.6 points per game.
Arizona State will seemingly be without their best receiver in Jordyn Tyson, who suffered an injury during the Territorial Cup. Tyson eclipsed 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns on Saturday.
