The Arizona State football schedule is here:

8/30 – NAU
9/6 – @ Mississippi State
9/13 – Texas State
9/20 – @ Baylor
9/27 – TCU
10/4 – BYE
10/11 – @ Utah
10/18 – Texas Tech
10/25 – Houston
11/1 – @ Iowa State
11/8 – BYE
11/15 – West Virginia
11/22 – @ Colorado
11/26 – Arizona (FRI)

A Few Takeaways

  • I think the byes are positioned very well for the defending Big 12 champs. The bye coming ahead of going to a revamped Utah, then hosting Texas Tech, Houston and going on the road to Iowa State will be a tough stretch. Getting that second bye on 11/8 will help with the final push before West Virginia, @ Colorado and Arizona.

  • The two away November games could be marquee matchups against Iowa State and Colorado. The weather could play a factor in Ames and Boulder. Although, ASU seemed to handle the winds of Kansas State pretty well on November 16 last year. Every team needs to revamp and Colorado needs to replace a lot, but it feels like most teams revamp rather than need to rebuild year-in and out.

  • ASU could see two Arizona quarterbacks in the Big 12 this year. Devon Dampier (Saguaro) made the move to Utah and Nicco Marchiol (Hamilton) seems to be the man under center for West Virginia this year.

  • There certainly not any gimmes on the road this year. Mississippi State struggled last year, but the SEC is the SEC. Utah does not lose at home much over the last decade. Ames is one of the best atmospheres in all of college football. Boulder is a great atmosphere, and their team is one of the toughest to predict where they’ll be, especially late in the year.
