Genesis Smith became known for his big hits and ball-hawking ability at Hamilton High School and the University of Arizona.
Now, he gets to bring that skillet to the Chargers after he was selected by them in the 4th round of the NFL draft.
In a talented secondary of older players in Tucson, Smith was able to separate himself as a younger player.
From 2023-25, he tallied 165 tackles, four forced fumbles, four interceptions and 14 passes defended.
In his time in Tucson, he not only made an impact on the field but in the community as well:
Smith joins Caleb Lomu, Treydan Stukes and Ja’Kobi Lane as former Arizona prep standouts to be selected in the NFL draft.
