Pinnacle quarterback JD Johnson is going from one school that chants “Go Big Blue” to another after he committed to Michigan on Friday morning.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound quarterback wasted no time committing when Michigan came calling, making his pledge five days after visiting and getting the offer.

The Wolverines offered the 6-foot-4, 190-pound pro-style quarterback while on a visit on December 16th and he committed five days later.
While Johnson hadn’t taken a varsity snap until this season, he entered his junior year with offers from Arizona, Colorado State and UNLV. South Carolina and Oregon State also offered in-season.
At most schools, Johnson would already have at least one full season of varsity tape, but he patiently waited as a backup quarterback behind the class of 2019’s top quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Johnson did see significant time with the Pioneers at two separate points in the season: early in the year when Rattler went down with an ankle injury and the last five games of they year when Rattler was ineligible after breaking a Scottsdale Unified School District code of conduct rule.
In seven games as the starter, Johnson went 123/194 for 2,004 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
JD Johnson isn’t the only premier 2020 recruit at Pinnacle. Offensive tackle Tosh Baker has become the hottest recruit in the state with much of the Pac-12 and other big-time programs offering him.
Big Ten Rivalry In the Southwest
Fans of the Michigan – Ohio State rivalry will also have an eye on Arizona for this upcoming class as Johnson is now a commit of Michigan and Chaparral quarterback Jack Miller made his pledge to Ohio State last summer.
