Fitz future, ASU v UofA BIG number, Christian Kirk sets date

Arizona Sports News online

The $23.6 million salary cap number for Larry Fitzgerald in 2015 remains the 900 pound gorilla in the room. Agent speculation is Fitzgerald could remain with Arizona at a number around $12 million but his value has gone up the last two weeks by simply wearing an earpiece on the sideline.
Jaron Brown drops a sure touchdown in the end zone in Seattle that might’ve turned the tide. Former first round pick Michael Floyd didn’t register a catch against the Seahawks and was pedestrian against Atlanta. So while it’s easy to blame Drew Stanton for not being able to target any receiver in the 602 area code, he hasn’t had all the bullets in the chamber to get the job done. I’ve grown weary of the fans who say or write that Fitz is past his prime. How do we know? Who has really stepped forward on the current roster to show that life wouldn’t be so bad if Fitzgerald weren’t in Cardinal red next season and beyond?

Blame Stanton all you want, but you can’t take a future Hall of Famer off the field and have a running back playing well below 100%, and expect the backup quarterback to get the job done. These final games of the regular season are a job audition for Stanton to be in Arizona in 2015…
Drafting a quarterback wouldn’t be too far down my list of offseason priorities. If Carson Palmer is indeed ready to go by the middle of August as I’ve heard, I still think the longterm solution MAY not be presently wearing a Cardinal jersey…

While the red and blue pom-poms are being waved by the Arizona fans, I can certainly see more than a few scenarios where the Wildcat football team gets shutout of the College Football Playoff Final Four, even if they beat Oregon on Friday night. Georgia Tech and Kansas State would have to win their games to assure that the Cats get into the four team playoff.

The Arizona v Arizona State football game pulled the best television rating in the history of the Territorial Cup. Fox Sports Arizona Ace PR Man Brett Hansen tweeted out

Just my two cents on the Arizona State must discussed future log jam at quarterback.
Colton Gerhart gets moved to defense, incoming freshman sensation Bryce Perkins(Chandler High) looks at tight end, wide receiver, or on the back end of the ASU defense. Mike Bercovici gets pushed by redshirt freshman Manny Wilkins and incoming freshman Brady White. To me Berco is the starter to open next September at Texas A&M. No one can give me a good reason why Bercovici shouldn’t get most of the snaps in whatever bowl game the Sun Devils play in later this month…

Mike Norvell should be all over the head coaching job at Tulsa and they should be all over him…

Christian Kirk(Scottsdale Saguaro) the top recruit in this years in-state high school football class, will announce his college choice on Wednesday, December 17th at 11:45a. ASU is still in the mix, though most believe that Texas A&M has the inside track…

The Suns are almost through a quarter of their season. They are as good as their three guards can take them. Nothing more, nothing less. 41 wins? Maybe…

Add San Diego State to the future home schedule of Grand Canyon University. Dan Majerle told me on Tuesdays show that the ‘Lopes have added the Aztecs on a home and home schedule. GCU has signed Louisville to a three year contract, with one of those games to played in Phoenix. Impressive…

The Sports360az.com staff will be spread out over the next week. Thursday and Friday, Eric Sorenson and Jared Cohen will be in Santa Clara with the Arizona Wildcats football team for the Pac-12 title game. I am going to take the show to San Diego for a couple of days next week(Tuesday/Wednesday) for the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings…
