After two years of finishing second place in the championship hunt, Zane Smith finally broke through and claimed his first career NASCAR Championship in the Camping World Truck Series. The 23-year-old from Huntington Beach, CA made some magic in a green-white-checkered finish to pass defending champion, Ben Rhodes, en route to raising the trophy at Phoenix Raceway.
Smith is the second champion crowned at Phoenix Raceway for NASCAR Championship Weekend and the next trophy will be hoisted in Saturday’s Xfinity Series finale followed by the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday.
