Williams Field Shuts Out Deer Valley

Arizona Sports News online

Williams Field at Deer Valley
8/25/2017

Final: Williams Field 13 Deer Valley 0

Recap: The entire first quarter, these two teams exchanged punts and three-and-outs. Williams Field finally broke the tie when junior QB Zack Shepherd hit Noa Pola-Gates in stride on a 60-yard bomb. 7-0 Williams Field.

Deer Valley started to put a decent dive together but Williams Field DE Christian Foote
sacked QB Marek Fennell to end any Deer Valley hopes of tying the score before
halftime. Score remained 7-0 Williams Field at the half.

Deer Valley opened up the second half with the ball at the 2 yard line and proceeded to
go on a 9 minute drive. They marched all the way to the 13 yard line but a holding and a
false start pushed their offense back and they couldn’t recover. The Skyhawks 37-yard
field goal attempt was no good.
Williams Field was able to put the game away in the 4th quarter, driving the field to go up two scores. Pola-Gates had a nice 20-yard gain, Shepherd hit Jaeden Bailey and Mark
McMillian to move the chains to the 13 yard before he scampered in for a score.13-0
Williams Field with eight minutes remaining. That would be the final as the DV offense was never able to muster up another drive.
Bottomline: This was a game meant to play in the trenches and it was. But Williams Field had more explosive plays and that led to their victory. Deer Valley has serious talent but struggles to throw the football. They had chances to score but put themselves in negative situations with penalties.

Game Ball: I am going with the Williams Field defense for pitching the shutout tonight.
