William Sawalich Dominates as Mother Nature Wins ARCA General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway

If the rain, that means NASCAR is likely in town!

To kick off NASCAR Shriner’s Childrens 500 Weekend, the ARCA Menards Series hit the track for the General Tire 150. The event was dominated by Joe Gibbs Racing driver and 17-year-old up-and-coming star, William Sawalich. The race neared its conclusion, a desert storm rolled in with a lightning delay and eventually invited a slew of rain as well.

The event was called official shortly after with 115 of 150 laps complete, declaring Sawalich as the winner.

That was pretty far-fetched,” said Sawalich, who collected his fifth career ARCA Menards Series win and his first of the 2024 season. “But I knew a rain-shortened win was going to come at some point. Everyone said it’s kind of weird to win one (this way) – I really wanted to do a burnout – and it’s definitely weird, but a win’s a win.”

ARCA rookie, Gio Ruggerio, finished second in an impressive Phoenix debut. NASCAR Tuck Series regular, Grant Enfinger came home third followed by Connor Mosack and Sean Hingorani for the top five.

The rain should subside and the action pick up with Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 at 2:30 p.m. MST. Sunday rounds out our championship preview as the NASCAR Cup Series closes out the tripleheader weekend with the Shiner’s Childrens 500 at 12:30 p.m. MST.
