The Arizona Cardinals selected Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday evening. The son of hall-of-fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison was the fourth overall pick in the draft and by all accounts a well-received pick by Cardinals fans.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be an Arizona Cardinal,” Harrison Jr. said. “I’m excited to get to work and that’s really where my mind is at right now.”

Harrison Jr. said he’s looking forward to working with Kyler Murray and building a connection with the Cardinals quarterback.

“You just look at his record from high school, he’s just always won. And he’s just the kind of guy that’s fun to play with, he’s so dynamic as a quarterback. I just wanna go in there and make his job easier, as much as I can.”

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound wide receiver says his father was a massive influence in how he approached his preparation for the NFL Draft.

“I think just how I approached the whole draft process, there was no Combine, no Pro Day.” Harrison Jr. said. “I love where my body is at right now going into the season, going into minicamp and going into training camp. Having him put me in a great position to succeed.”
