Mercury legends in Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor read to third graders at Marc T. Atkinson Middle School as part of the Final Four tipoff campaign.
The reading also started the “Read to the Final Four” contest that hopes to inspire Arizona third graders to hit the books.
The competition is based on average time spent reading – top 68 schools advance to the next round.
The “Read to the Final Four” champion school will earn a $5,000 prize to support reading, literacy or library programs.
