Mitch Lightfoot and Remy Martin, two main cogs in the Kansas Jayhawk basketball program, are heading to the Final Four next weekend in New Orleans. Both made their marks on the basketball court here in Arizona.
Lightfoot starred at Gilbert Christian, leading the Knights to a 2016 state title. He was awarded the Gatorade Arizona Basketball Player of the Year that same season, averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds a game. Lightfoot scored 9 points for KU in Sunday’s regional final win over Miami, Fla.
Martin was a three-time All-Pac-12 member at Arizona State. After his senior season, he transferred out of the Sun Devil program and enrolled last summer at KU as a grad transfer. His postseason stat line for the Jayhawks has been nothing short of spectacular. Sunday, Martin came off the bench to score 9 points, grab six rebounds, and dished out two assists.
Good day on the Valley hoops scene.
