All-American Ty Robinson Goes In-Depth on Nebraska Commitment

Ty Robinson commitment

Higley defensive lineman Ty Robinson had just about every big-time program after him.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound All-American made his commitment to Nebraska, beating out other finalists Alabama, Oregon, Stanford and USC.

“I really do think Nebraska is going to be that dominant force in the Big Ten that’s going to win it for the next four years as long as I’m there,” Robinson said. “(I like) the culture. The culture shock that happened there in the fanbase, that’s insane how much support they have.”

Scott Frost and his staff pulled out all the stops for the All-American, even sending 11 coaches to visit with him on-campus last week.

“They basically shut down their recruitment nationally just to see me,” Robinson said.

In three seasons at Higley, Robinson tallied 146 total tackles, 69 tackles for loss and 23 sacks. This January, he will participate in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

The four-star recruit also won the National Football Foundation Curley Culp Defensive Lineman of the Year Award. He teamed up with his brother, Truitt, to take home Sports360AZ Best High School Football Celebration GIF honors as well.

He will also leave Higley as the program’s most recruiting football player and someone who helped take the Knights to new heights.

“He’s a leader,” Higley football coach Eddy Zubey said. “He’s a winner. Just his work ethic, how he acts on the football field, I think those are all big footprints he’s going to be leaving on the program.”

While many top recruits can feel fatigue of intense recruitments, Robinson kept everything in perspective.

“It was so much fun,” Robinson said, grinning. “It’s a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I had a blast getting to meet all these coaches and building connections for later in life…It was a lot of fun, and I’d go through it again.”

Not just Ty Robinson

Chandler Hamilton safety Javin Wright is also a 2019 Nebraska commit. In addition to Robinson and Wright, The Huskers have also offered Noa Pola-Gates and Matthew Pola-Mao and multiple notable 2020 targets in the state.
