Two-Time Pac-10 Player of Year Brett Wallace Brings Experience to ASU Baseball

Brett Wallace is one of the best players to come through the storied ASU baseball program.

He was a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2007 & 2008. He has a career Sun Devil batting average of .398 and hit 45 home runs from 2006-2008.

Now, he’s hoping to bring that experience and perspective to the current ASU program. This offseason, he joined the Devils as the Director of Quality Control & Offensive Strategy.

He is a part of Willie Bloomquist’s support staff, which means he can’t coach the players but provide an extra set of eyes for the coaching staff.

Bloomquist hopes having Wallace’s presence in the building can help show the current roster what it takes to get to a College World Series standard.

As a player, Wallace was a headliner on some of ASU’s most talented rosters including Major League players Mike Leake, Andrew Romine, Eric Sogard, Ike Davis, Jake Elmore and Jason Kipnis. He was the No. 13 overall pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2008 MLB draft and also played for the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres at the Major League level.

Wallace shares what he hopes to add to this program, what Sun Devil baseball means to him and why Bloomquist is the right man for the job to lead this ASU program.
