Thriving Lopes Getting Creative Ahead of WAC Tournament

November 18, 2024.

That’s the last time GCU women’s hoops has lost a game. They’ve rattled of 27 straight wins and a perfect 16-0 slate in WAC play, where they are beating their opponents by an average of 20 points.

Three wins at the WAC tournament stand between them and their first NCAA tournament berth in program history.

This team is locked in, but even the most focused groups can take their foot off the gas a little after so much success. That’s why head coach Molly Miller decided to pretend last week that the team lost. What comes after a loss? A focused practice with plenty of feedback.

The Lopes ramped up the intensity as a wake-up call to not get complacent.

Now, it’s a matter of taking care of business in Las Vegas, and the Lopes will be dancin’ for the first time.
