Three Dots…Taco Bell and the Fiesta Bowl? Christian Kirks future destination

Arizona Sports News online

Tuesday Three Dot Thoughts…

I’ve seen some bad contracts in Valley sports, but Diamondback starting pitcher Trevor Cahill has to be the face of “buyer beware”.
In the last calendar year, Cahill has a ERA of 5.28 and has averaged 5 walks per 9-innings.
The deal that brought Cahill here may well go down as the worst in recent Diamondbacks history. December of 2011 Cahill was the centerpiece of a deal that sent Jarrod Parker to the Oakland A’s. Worse yet, the team is on the hook for close to 17-million dollars to his bank account…
Christian Kirk, the top in-state football recruit of 2015, included Arizona State in his final list of college choices. Kirk is a difference maker much the same way as DJ Foster(from the same high school) was when he decided to stay home and become a Sun Devil. Most of the recruiting gurus think Kirk will end up signing with Texas A&M…
How does the Taco Bell Fiesta Bowl sound? Or the Fiesta Bowl presented by the Taco Bell. Look, sponsorships come and go, but the marriage between Fiesta and Tostitos was as good as any ever put together. Nothing said “party” like the two brands. But in this new world of bowl games Tostitos wasn’t going to accept ESPNs time slot of New Years Eve(chips are already sold on that night)and the 25-million sponsorship fee(could’ve gone as high as 35-million).
I’ve had several notes wondering if this had anything to do with the departure of Robert Shelton as Executive Director(nope) or the John Junker scandal(ditto).
This was about the new College Football Playoff and the changing landscape of the bowl system…
