Three Dot Thoughts – Let’s Not Sugar Coat

Arizona Sports News online

If we want to make it through the football season at the college level, getting into a bubble is looking more and more the way to go.

When Trevor Lawrence, the most visible player in the sport, goes down due to COVID-19 just a week away from the biggest game of the season in the ACC, that should be enough of a wake-up call. When a high profile program like Wisconsin has to shut down, you’d think that those in charge would say, “It’s time to move, and move fast.”

Colleges that still have on-campus learning are telling their students to stay home after the Thanksgiving holiday. Colleges should bubble the athletes on campus to finish out the season and collect the checks. The brush fire isn’t going away anytime soon. The numbers don’t lie…

Remember when Payton Manning didn’t leave Tennessee for the NFL? It’s not like Lawrence doesn’t have options if the Jets get the number one pick and he doesn’t want to go…

Somehow, someway, I think the early season home loss by the Cardinals to the Lions is going to come back into play for a playoff spot. That one was more egregious than the road loss at Carolina…

The wise guys in Vegas have the Diamondbacks at 60-1 to win the 2021 World Series. The Dodgers are 6-1. Eight straight National League West titles for LA along with one of the top farm systems in baseball have the champions of the game set up for years to come. Someone make a compelling argument about the Diamondbacks future. I’ve got plenty of time…

Can the Coyotes just stay out of the news cycle until 2021? Please…

The USL canceling their title game because of COVID-19 is so USL. NOTHING good comes out of saying, “We’re not playing our championship game.”

Play it New Year’s Eve or next February before camps open! They walked away from a national TV window and have co-champs, which just doesn’t work in the professional sports world. The competitive nature of the Rising FC ownership surely can’t be the ones that said, “Hey, let’s just cancel”…

My favorite crazy parent story this week (and I hear a lot of them from coaches). Morning of a varsity high school football game, daddy baller calls the head coach to say he doesn’t want his son to run straight ahead too many times because, “The line just isn’t very good.”  I love daddy ballers!!! Easy material. SMH…

I’ve seen Saguaro’s football team in person each of the last two Friday nights. It’s amazing how much bigger and faster they looked the week of transfers becoming eligible.

It was like two different teams between their loss to Hamilton and win over Casteel. Not a criticism, just a fact. I won’t be surprised if the high school football season doesn’t make it to the finish line. The COVID-19 numbers aren’t slowing down…

If you were one of those who predicted that the virus was just a media creation and will be going away the day after the election, you lose!  Mask up!
