Arizona Wildcats the next target for Big-12 ?

Arizona Sports News online

I can’t see the Arizona Board of Regents agreeing to let the University of Arizona jump to the Big-12 without Arizona State, but it’s pretty clear to me since the news that Colorado has one and three-quarters foot out the door that Arizona is the next target for Big-12 commissioner Brett Yormark. This isn’t breaking news, it just needs to be emphasized that the Wildcats bolting the Pac-12 and leaving Arizona State behind wouldn’t be much of a shock. The stunner would be the Board of Regents agreeing to it, not that I would be against Arizona and Arizona State breaking up. Is it more likely that Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State all leave together? That sounds good, but is the vision of each university president a good fit within the Big-12? Very fair question to ask.

UConn is certainly on the inside track to jump to the Big-12. IF Arizona did leave the Pac-12, all of sudden, the addition of the Huskies and the Wildcats would give the Big-12 a massive basketball conference.

If/when its officially announced later today that Colorado is leaving for the Big-12, it certainly looks like the Pac-12 is dead on arrival. But, in the world of college athletics, you just never know…
