Seattle played like the defending Super Bowl champs, the Cardinals looked like a team that wanted to take their crown. I’m not going to make much more out of Sundays 19-3 loss to the Seahawks. Flip another week off the calendar until the playoffs start. Sure, winning on the Seahawks home turf would’ve just added to the amazing storyline of the 2014 Cardinals, but coming up short is no great shame.
Not going to over-react to the final score. Now, that doesn’t excuse some of what happened on the field especially on offense.
Debating whether Drew Stanton can get the Cardinals to the Super Bowl has been low hanging fruit since Carson Palmer went down for the season. I haven’t seen anything that makes me believe that he is over matched in the position. Seattle didn’t give him time to throw, he made a couple of poor choices in the passing game, he also had a dropped pass in the end zone in the second quarter that would’ve changed the complexion of the game. If the injury he suffered late in the loss takes him off the field, then obviously there is more to discuss…

This game was much more important for Seattle than it was for the Cardinals. We will hear, read, and see terms like “pushing the panic button,”cause for concern” and “storm clouds gathering” after Sundays loss. There is still quite a bit of football left to be played. I wrote last week about the Cardinals traveling over 5,000 miles for their next two match ups. I didn’t expect them to win either game, maybe they can prove me wrong next week in Atlanta.
