Starting the Conversation: Charlie Duffy

Charlie Duffy has battled Cerebral Palsy affecting the left side of her body since she was a little girl. At seven years old she had a major surgery that involved cutting her femur in half to insert a plate, which eventually allowed her to live life more “normally.”

As a freshman at Northwest Christian high school two years ago, Duffy made the varsity softball team. As the first game began, her time playing was coming to a halt. She needed to have the same surgery again. She’s had over 20 surgeries in her life.

The recovery through 18 months has proven more difficult than she anticipated.

For now, softball is on the shelf. But her identity, faith, and life remain on an upward trajectory.

Her impact on others through Instagram and motivational talks is spreading. Duffy is open about daily struggles and battles with mental health. She’s even been on Good Morning America.

I sat down with Charlie Duffy for over 28 minutes to discuss her journey, emotions, and so much more.
